Our main goal for the pre-orientation web site is to provide information that will help you make the most of your academic scheduling session at orientation. Ideally, we would like for you to come to the scheduling session on Day One with five courses in mind that interest you. Ultimately, we hope that the pre-orientation web site will help you create an appropriate schedule.
What happens in orientation?
Your first scheduling session starts in the afternoon on Day One. During the meeting, we will discuss your major, introduce degree planning, and show you how to select classes for autumn semester.
On Day Two, you will have a brief, one-on-one meeting with an academic advisor to review your course selections. You will then register for courses in a facilitated computer lab or in your advisor’s office.
A liberal arts degree at Ohio State
In order to earn a degree from The Ohio State University, you
will complete course work from three areas:
- General education courses
- Major courses
General education courses form the foundation of a liberal arts degree. You will likely take three general education courses during your first semester.
